PodVCR is a self-hosted tool. Your data stays on the server running this instance unless you share a rendered clip.

What we store

  • Your email, a hashed password, and sign-in timestamps.
  • RSS feeds you add, episodes imported from those feeds, and the audio files for episodes you transcribe.
  • Transcripts, clip selections, and rendered MP4 output files.
  • Settings you save (caption defaults, logo, etc.).

Third parties

Transcription sends audio to OpenAI (Whisper). AI clip suggestions send transcripts to Anthropic (Claude). Both providers receive the audio or text strictly for the purpose of generating a response and are bound by their own data policies.

Email

We send transactional emails (sign-in, verification, password reset). Optional clip-completion emails can be toggled off in the Account page.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account at any time from the Account page. Deletion removes your login, your podcasts, transcripts, clips, and generated files — there is no soft-delete or recovery.
